Turkey Burgers | Greek style With Tzatziki sauce

As the seasons begin to change, it becomes time to make sure the grill fires up just like it used to. Rather than stick with the traditional American beef burger, get grilling this year with something more… interesting: Greek Style Turkey Burgers dipped in a tzatziki-based sauce.

Why eat this?

Lemon juice contains unique flavonoid compounds that have antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Antioxidants act to neutralize “free radicals”; these free radicals are the main cause of biological aging!

Ingredients

Burgers

  • 1 lb. ground turkey breast
  • 8 to 10 pitted Kalamata Olives
  • 1/2 cup chopped flat leaf parsley
  • 1/4 cup Feta cheese crumbles
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Sliced tomatoes

Tzatziki sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1/2 cup chopped flat leaf parsley
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • Salt to taste

Directions

For the Tzatziki sauce

  1. Combine all ingredients in food processor or blender
  2. Puree and chill for at least 2 hours

For the Burgers

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl
  2. Form into 4 patties
  3. Grill or pan fry until done (160 degrees)
  4. Garnish with tomatoes

Things to Consider:

Traditional Tzatziki sauce uses sour cream. You could try that to thicken it up a little. I use the sauce more for dipping and drizzling, so I prefer a little looser consistency.

Buns: I like the brand “one bun” (100 calories of whole wheat)
